Why Settings Matter
In a tactical game decided by single-bullet exchanges, settings have a direct impact on performance. Low FPS introduces input lag. Bad sensitivity makes consistent aim impossible. A cluttered crosshair breaks your focus.
Optimising takes 20 minutes and compounds for every hour you play after that.

Resolution and Display
Recommended: 1920x1080 (Full HD)
If you can't hit 144+ FPS at 1080p, try 1280x720 (big FPS boost) or 1600x900 (middle ground).
Graphics Settings (Maximum FPS)
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Multithreaded Rendering | On |
| Material / Texture / Detail Quality | Low |
| VSync | Off — always |
| Anti-Aliasing | MSAA 2x or None |
| Bloom / Distortion / Shadows | Off |
| NVIDIA Reflex | On + Boost (NVIDIA GPUs) |
Target 144+ FPS minimum. Consistent frame delivery beats peak FPS.

Sensitivity
Most competitive players use eDPI 200–400 (eDPI = DPI × In-Game Sensitivity).
- DPI 800, Sensitivity 0.35 → eDPI 280 (sweet spot)
- DPI 400, Sensitivity 0.4 → eDPI 160 (CS crossover)
- DPI 800, Sensitivity 0.5 → eDPI 400 (smaller desks)
Starting fresh? Use 800 DPI / 0.35 sensitivity and adjust from there.
Set Scoped Sensitivity to 1.0 to match your raw sensitivity feel.

Crosshair
Your crosshair should be small, static, and high contrast.
Starter crosshair code:
0;s;1;P;h;0;f;0;0l;4;0o;2;0a;1;0f;0;1t;0;1l;0;1o;0;1a;0;1m;0;1f;0
Settings → Crosshair → Import Code → paste above.
Key settings:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Color | Cyan or White |
| Inner Lines Length | 4 |
| Inner Lines Thickness | 2 |
| Inner Lines Offset | 2 |
| Movement Error | Off |
| Firing Error | Off |
| Outer Lines | Off |
Most important: Movement Error and Firing Error = Off. These train you to watch your crosshair instead of your target. Disable them entirely.

Keybinds
Defaults work fine. Worthwhile changes:
- Toggle abilities (Viper, Astra): Bind to a side mouse button
- Minimap zoom: Bind +/- for quick late-round adjustment
---
Audio
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| SFX Volume | 100% |
| Voice Chat | 60–70% |
| Music | 0% |
Use headphones. Stereo footstep positioning is free information you're missing without them.
---
Windows Optimisations
- Game Mode → On
- Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling → On
- Power Plan → High Performance
- Fullscreen Optimizations → Disabled on Valorant executable
These can add 10–30 FPS and reduce input lag on mid-range hardware.
