CS2 Trading Distance: Stay Close Enough to Punish

Following a teammate is not enough. Match their route and timing so the defender cannot reset before your crosshair reaches the fight.

Why this matters

A trade depends on time and line of sight. If the first player dies around a corner while you clear a different angle, the spacing looked close but played far apart.

Three decisions to clean up

Share the route

The second player must understand which angles the first player is clearing. Splitting attention creates two isolated fights instead of one paired entry.

Leave movement room

Stacking directly behind a teammate blocks the retreat and lets one spray hit both players. Keep enough space to move while preserving the immediate swing.

Swing on contact

Do not wait for the kill feed to explain the fight. The sound, shot, and teammate stop are earlier cues that the trade window is open.

Use it in your next session

    • Review five T-side entry deaths.
    • Measure whether the second player saw the defender immediately.
    • Practise one route with fixed first and second roles.

Review the pattern

Count entry deaths followed by a trade attempt within two seconds. Accuracy can improve later; first make sure the attempt exists.

Do not judge the habit by one match result. Look for cleaner decisions across several repeated situations, then make the cue slightly more demanding once it becomes automatic.
