Reyna Agent Guide: Dominate as Valorant's Most Selfish Duelist

Reyna is Valorant's most pick-up-and-play duelist — but playing her well requires understanding when to snowball, when to reset, and how to turn kills into round wins.

Who Is Reyna?

Reyna is the most popular agent in Valorant for good reason: she's the purest expression of the game's individual skill ceiling. Kill someone, become stronger. Kill again, become unkillable. She rewards mechanical skill with mechanical advantages — but she punishes passivity harder than any other agent.

Abilities Breakdown

Leer (C) — 200cr each, 2 charges

Throw a destructible eye that nearsights (blurs the screen of) all enemies who look at it. Unlike a flash, Leer can be destroyed before it activates, so enemies have a counterplay option.

Key uses:

  • Throw it around a corner before peeking to blind anyone holding the angle
  • Throw it into a site before entry to force defenders to look away
  • Combine with utility (teammate flashes, smokes) for layered blinds
The mistake new Reyna players make: Throwing Leer directly at a target. Throw it into the space an enemy is holding so they have to look at it or destroy it.

Devour (Q) — Uses Soul Orbs

After killing an enemy, a Soul Orb appears. Activate Devour to consume it and heal to full HP (overheal to 150 HP during Empress).

Key rules:

  • Soul Orbs last 3 seconds — you must be within range
  • Devour takes 1.5 seconds and roots you in place — only use it when safe
  • In lower ranks: heal in cover. In higher ranks: opponents will push the heal animation

Dismiss (E) — Uses Soul Orbs

Consume a Soul Orb to phase out of combat — you become invulnerable and untargetable for 2 seconds, appearing as a ghost that can reposition.

Key uses:

  • Escape a bad angle after getting a kill
  • Reposition to a safer spot to Devour
  • Bait enemies into pushing, Dismiss around a corner, shoot them from behind
Dismiss vs. Devour: If you're under 100 HP and got a kill, Dismiss to safety first, then Devour if another orb is available. Don't heal in the open.

Empress (X) — 6 ultimate points

Activate: Reyna enters a powered-up state. All kills automatically trigger Devour. Rapid fire, reduced recoil, faster reloads, and a distinctive red visual for enemies.

How to use Empress:

  • Don't pop it randomly — wait until there are 3+ enemies alive
  • Use it to chain kills — get the first kill with full HP, the auto-heals keep you alive through the next
  • After Empress ends: if you went 3-0, your team likely won the round. If you went 0-0, you wasted an ult.

Playstyle: The Reyna Loop

    • Get information — don't peek blind. Wait for a teammate to gain info or use Leer to create a disadvantaged peek for the enemy
    • Take the fight — commit to the angle you've prepared
    • Win the fight — if you miss, Dismiss out before they finish you
    • Snowball — Devour while safe, move to the next fight immediately
    • Repeat — Reyna's power window is 20–30 seconds per round when kills are happening

---

Best Maps for Reyna

Excellent:

  • Ascent — Clear long angles, lots of 1v1 opportunities, A main and B main are ideal Leer spots
  • Bind — Short fight distances reward mechanical dominance; teleporters let her reposition after kills
Harder:
  • Abyss — Open design makes it harder to isolate fights
  • Lotus — Three-site with complex rotations where team coordination matters more than individual duels

---

Common Mistakes

    • Healing in front of enemies — Devour animation is long. You will die.
    • Using Empress when losing — Empress needs a kill to start the chain. Starting it at 0 HP or against a full team is usually wasted.
    • Ignoring teammates — Reyna's kit is entirely self-focused. Communicate when you're going aggressive so your team can follow up your kills instead of running into your aftermath.
    • Picking Reyna in ranked when the team needs a controller — She has no team utility. If your team has no smokes, reconsider.

---

Counters to Know

  • Sage walls — A wall blocks your sight after Leer lands, giving enemies time to react
  • KAY/O suppression — His knife removes your orb-collecting ability entirely
  • High ground — Reyna excels in close-range duels; enemies with height have a structural advantage
