Why this matters
Item value depends on timing. A powerful late component can be worse than an immediate defensive or utility buy when the next fight happens before it is complete.
Three decisions to clean up
Define the next problem
Name the damage, control, sustain, or movement issue stopping your job. Buy toward that answer instead of following the list blindly.
Check the completion window
Estimate whether the item arrives before the next important fight. If not, a smaller spike may create more real value.
Review what actually triggered
After the fight, check whether the purchased effect had a chance to work. An item cannot solve positioning that prevents it from activating.
Use it in your next session
- Pause before each major purchase.
- Name the next fight and your job in it.
- Choose the item that changes that specific interaction.
Review the pattern
Compare purchase time with the next two fights. Keep items that influenced the planned interaction, not only those common in finished builds.
Do not judge the habit by one match result. Look for cleaner decisions across several repeated situations, then make the cue slightly more demanding once it becomes automatic.
