One Habit per Session: A Better Way to Practise Ranked

Trying to fix six mistakes at once makes all six disappear under pressure. Give each session one visible cue and one short review question.

Why this matters

Attention is limited during competitive play. A single cue survives the pace of a match and gives review a clear signal to find afterward.

Three decisions to clean up

Choose a behaviour, not an outcome

Trade distance, wave checks, safe resets, and utility calls are controllable. Winning and top fragging are results with too many causes.

Make the cue short

Use a phrase you can recall during the relevant moment. If the cue needs a paragraph, it will arrive after the decision.

Stop measuring everything else

For that session, review the chosen habit first. Other mistakes can enter the next plan instead of competing for attention now.

Use it in your next session

    • Choose one repeated mistake from the previous review.
    • Write a cue with five words or fewer.
    • Count successful attempts across three matches.

Review the pattern

Promote the habit only when the cue appears without effort. Until then, repeat the same target rather than replacing it after one difficult match.

Do not judge the habit by one match result. Look for cleaner decisions across several repeated situations, then make the cue slightly more demanding once it becomes automatic.

Use UpForge to review your matches, find repeated decision patterns, and turn them into a focused practice plan.
