Miks Agent Guide: Valorant's Hybrid Duelist (Patch 12.05)
Miks is Valorant's most unusual duelist — introduced in Patch 12.05, he hails from the Philippines and brings a hybrid kit blending self-sustain, teammate buffs, map-targeted smokes, and a displacement ultimate. He is the first duelist who can reliably play part-controller.
Role & Playstyle
Miks is a Duelist who plays best as an aggressive entry fragger who also provides team-level utility. His smokes and healing make him viable even when the team lacks a dedicated controller.
Abilities
Harmonize (E) — Free (Signature)
Activates a Combat Stim boosting movement speed and fire rate for Miks and any nearby ally. Refreshes on elimination.
Tips:
- Activate before entry and keep fragging to maintain the buff throughout the round
- Stack with a mechanical duelist nearby — a Jett or Raze under Harmonize is devastating
- Refresh-on-elimination rewards aggression; passive play wastes this ability entirely
M-pulse (Q) — 200 credits
Toggle between two throw modes — Concuss (disorients enemies) or Heal (AoE healing orb for teammates).
Tips:
- Switch modes contextually — concuss for entry, heal for post-plant holds
- Heal orb in a plant spot can keep your whole team alive during the defuse window
- Concuss is quieter and harder to react to than a traditional flash
Waveform (C) — 300 credits
Map-targeted smokes like Brimstone's Sky Smokes — place up to two large smoke clouds anywhere on the map, no line of sight required.
Tips:
- Smoke off your flank before pushing so you can entry without concern
- Two smokes per cast covers both site entrances simultaneously
- Unlike Brimstone, Waveform requires no prolonged standing still — fire and go
Bassquake (X) — 8 ult points
A directional shockwave from Miks's position that knocks back, deafens, and slows all enemies it hits.
Tips:
- Aim the wave toward clustered enemies — it is directional, not radial
- Combine with Harmonize active: pushed enemies are slowed while you are faster
- Strong for retake: push Bassquake into a held site then rush through the disruption
- Good post-plant to knock defenders away from the bomb
Strengths
- Most team-friendly duelist in the game
- Built-in smokes reduce controller dependency
- Healing utility extends team HP across rounds
- Bassquake disrupts at initiator-level scale
Weaknesses
- Expensive kit (Waveform 300 plus M-pulse 200)
- Complex to master — toggling M-pulse mid-round requires discipline
- Bassquake direction needs prediction; poor aim wastes it
- Without Harmonize active, raw mechanics are average
Best Maps
| Map | Rating | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Ascent | S | Waveform smokes mid plus Harmonize for mid-control dominance |
| Fracture | A | Multiple split entries suit his hybrid aggressive kit |
| Pearl | A | Long sightlines benefit smart smoke placement |
| Haven | A | Triple site gives Waveform maximum flexibility |
Counters
- KAY/O suppression — removes Harmonize buff entirely
- Killjoy lockdown — punishes clustered Bassquake usage
- Viper wall — chip damage denies the push Miks sets up with his smokes
Verdict
Difficulty: Medium-High | Tier (12.09): A
Miks has the highest team-value ceiling of any duelist. In coordinated play he can replace a controller while still fragging. In solo queue his healing and smokes provide passive value without coordination. A strong pick on almost every map.
