The five habits costing you games
After reviewing Deadlock sessions through UpForge, the same beginner mistakes appear from low rank through experienced FPS players who skip fundamentals.
1. Hero swapping every queue
You never learn ability timings, power spikes, or lane matchups. Pick one hero for 10 games — then evaluate.
2. Chasing kills instead of souls
A kill that costs two minutes of farm loses the urn fight you were walking toward. Souls are tempo; kills are only good when they accelerate farm or objectives.
3. Fighting on enemy terms
Down-level, down-item, or outnumbered skirmishes feel winnable because Deadlock is chaotic. They are not. Disengage, farm, group for mid.
4. Ignoring lane assignment
Six players wandering is six players losing souls. Know your lane, ping when you rotate, and do not abandon farm for a 50/50 fight three lanes away.
5. Copying end-game builds at minute four
Pro four-item spikes assume perfect farm. Your first buy should stabilise the lane — damage second if you are dying.
Fix one habit per session
Do not try to overhaul everything. Queue five games focusing only on soul timers, or only on disengaging when behind. Improvement compounds when the goal is narrow.
