Deadlock Souls Economy: When to Fight and When to Farm

Souls are tempo. Winning lanes is not just about kills — it is about knowing when a fight accelerates your item timings.

Souls are tempo

Every skirmish is a bet on whether winning the fight accelerates your item timings faster than the enemy recovers.

When to fight

  • You have level advantage or power spike
  • Enemy overextended without backup
  • Objective timer forces their hand (urn, walker)

When to farm

  • Lost trade badly and need safe souls to reach next item
  • Enemy jungler missing — punish waves, not ego fights
  • Lane matchup is unwinnable until one item completes

Track it

Connect Steam on UpForge to see match and hero trends on your dashboard (Deadlock is in beta — stats tracking is live; replay coaching uses Deadlock-specific plans). Use trends to see if you lose lanes before mid game or throw leads fighting on cooldown.
